美东时间 8 月 18 日 twenty one pilots 乐团放出了第二首单曲《Drum Show》。这首歌在歌词，声乐以及 MV 好像都给了 Joshua Dun 展示自己的舞台，甚至可能是在讲述 Joshua Dun 早期的、没有加入乐团之前的故事。
这首歌的歌词是在说一个人完成一天的任务以后却不想回家，无论是工作的地方还是家都让他想要逃避 – 于是他在回家的路途中一边放着音乐，一边绕远路、超速驾驶、突然转向，用这些极端举动来感受一些什么，或者是用来抒发自己的苦闷 – 显然这不是什么健康的方式。到了 bridge 部分，Joshua Dun 承认，“I’ve been this way / I want to change.”在 MV 里面，我们看到 Dun 在汽车里面用手操弄方向盘的画面跟他在停车场打鼓的动作交织出现，这种平行的剪辑应该是在说 Dun 在加入乐队以后，通过音乐表演找到了更加健康的方法来寻求快感和释放苦闷情绪，而不再是一个人在汽车里面危险驾驶了。
twenty one pilots 乐团在 6 月 12 日终于放出了新专辑《Breach》的首支单曲《The Contract》。歌曲在正午 12 点于音乐串流平台放出，歌曲影片在 YouTube 放出。
Joseph 跟 Dun 在 Zane Lowe 的《New Music Daily》电台访问当中谈到了这张专辑。乐团之前宣称《Clancy》是他们所叙述的故事的最终篇章，但他们最终发现专辑的叙事以悬念告终，因此他们知道这个故事还会有更多歌曲来填充（尽管如此他们还是把这张专辑作为“最终章”来做宣传）。Joseph 说这感觉起来有点像是一种误导，好像他们“背叛了乐迷的信任”（“we kind of breached their trust a bit”） – 这也是新专辑《Breach》名称的含义之一，同时这个概念也跟他们在这张专辑要叙述的故事密切相关。
Joseph 说他们本来考虑在《Clancy》基础上添加歌曲来完结故事，但当他跟本地咖啡店的员工聊天，对方提到这听起来像专辑的“豪华版”(deluxe)时，他很不舒服，因为这个词让他联想到快餐文化，暗示那些歌曲是“没达到标准的次品”，以及好像“豪华版唱片”是为了延长专辑生命周期而不断添加内容的做法。因此他觉得他们想要添加的新内容应该能作为独立的作品存在，这也是《Breach》作为一张独立专辑发售的原因（而非《Clancy》的扩展版本）。

6 月 1 日，Blurryface 帐号继续预告这首歌的歌词。“I have a feeling that necromancer’s outside. And I’m just tryin’ to stay quiet”。另，2 日的社交帖文更新，并在 IG 快拍秒删了前一天 Blurryface 的影片。
3 日，乐团在社交媒体倒计时新歌还有 9 天发出。同日 Blurrface 在 DM 里面发送一则影片，预告歌词“I wanna get out there, but I don’t try”。dmaorg_updates 和 locldreamer 以及 TOPUPDATERS 都收到了 DM。
6 月 5 日，一条短信被发给所有注册过 An Evening With Twenty One Pilots 柏林站演出的乐迷的手机号码，短信内容是一个 YouTube 链接（https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VbzUazmCExA – 这个链接已经失效）。影片是发布在乐团官方 YouTube 帐号的一则 21 秒的影片，标题为 THATS MAYB E HOWY OU KNOW THA T MY HALLUCIN AT ION I。如果开启字幕，可以看到如下内容（我们现在知道这都是歌词）。
8 日，乐团发了另一则歌曲片段（里面 Joseph唱到“Now I’m just trying to stay quiet”。）帖文的 caption 是“thursday |-/”。同日 Bluryface 的社交账号发出似乎是歌曲 stem 的片段，乐团在 YouTube 发了倒计时影片，影片描述里面包含歌曲的几句歌词。（之后这些歌词被删去）

Everything from “Blurryface” up to this forthcoming project – I was talking to Josh about how we played it like our last record “Clancy” was going to be the end of the story, and we intentionally knew it was going to be a cliffhanger the way it ended. I think that we felt like we had just done a misdirection to the fans. We never like to pull the rug out from under them, so intentionally knowing that we wanted to name the following record “Breach” was this play on how we breached their trust a bit in a way that actually ties into the story that we’re telling as well. It felt like it worked, but officially this album “Breach” is the last album that’s telling the story. The story will end with this one.
We always knew that there were more songs to be added to “Clancy”; we just didn’t know exactly. There was a moment where we thought we were just going to add songs to the record, and anytime I would tell someone that – I would go to my local coffee shop and one of the guys that works there always asks how things are going, and I tell him we’re thinking about adding some songs to the record to wrap it up – and he goes, “Oh, like a deluxe.” My heart sank. It was just like that’s how you describe fast food. Josh and I talk about how there’s no other way really in our culture right now with the way that we consume music – that’s the easiest way to describe adding songs to a record is “deluxe,” and it almost makes it seem like they were songs that didn’t quite make the cut at first or whatever. We live in this industry right now that is all about just trying to add stuff to records to give them another second or third life, and I’m not really – we’re not into that. So we knew that this had to live as its own record.

英国摇滚杂志《Kerrang》放出一则新的与twenty one pilots 的访问。访问发生于乐团在巴塞罗那的 Clancy 世界巡演期间。访问围绕乐团的 Clancy 世界巡演展开。
访问指出，巡演更早的编排当中，乐团每晚表演《The Judge》这首歌之前，大屏幕会展示粉丝在场外等待进场的影像（他们把这个影像叫做“painting the line”），这给乐团的创意总监 Mark Eshleman 增加不少工作量，每到一个地方都需要拍摄和剪辑，但 Joseph 认为这对于粉丝有特别意义，显示了他们与粉丝同在。Joseph 也说他们会在脑海中想到去看演出的排队中的粉丝的模样，来作为“画布”启发他们的专辑创作。
他也谈到了印有“CLANCY”的围巾状配饰（英文叫做“stole”）。这个的想法来自于 Joseph 想到小学生下课去操场，可能会把带来的跳绳挂在脖子上。设计师 Laura 做出了这个配饰。Joseph 说他希望这个简单的设计被粉丝模仿 DIY。
Joseph 在访问里面提到自己年龄上去以后的身体变化。Joseph 今年 36 岁，去年八月在美国丹佛第一场演出当中，他从钢琴上跳下以后受伤，导致了他骨折和韧带撕裂。此后他会注意在上场前花更多时间热身，Dun 也会发信息给他让他在演出前做拉伸动作。
Joseph 谈到《Next Semester》这首歌。这首歌在结构编排上有很多起承转合，专辑制作时有一些人建议他们把歌曲的结构弄得更加简单，但在 Dun 的支持下他们最终坚持了原本的结构。Joseph 说他在演出这首歌时看到粉丝的积极反应，就意识到他们之所以是乐团的粉丝是因为他们“相信（乐团）对于一首歌的直觉”，因此这变成了他最喜欢现场表演唱的一首歌。
最后 Joseph 有点感伤地谈了巡演的曲目表。他说乐团已经诞生十年，粉丝仍然很喜欢和接受他们发新的新作品，他们也可以在巡演里面把新歌作为演出的主要曲目；但是他知道很多乐团在巡演当中，粉丝希望他们还是回去唱哪些以前的成名作品，因为他们的粉丝不那么喜欢他们的新作品了。Joseph 说他不知道这对于乐团还能持续多久，他认为粉丝到了一定时间会不再关注（新的作品）。
《摇滚之声》（Rock Sound）杂志前创意总监 Ryan Bird 发了一本关于 twenty one pilots 的书叫做《The Only Band In The World》，据说会包含 Josh Dun 写的前言和 Tyler Joseph 写的后记，以及过去十年对于乐队的访问。本书的出版还据称得到了乐队的许可。
